Full version of case study for website publication.

In brief: The family wanted a brighter, more open floor plan and lower energy costs - without losing control of budget and progress. Byggmester Bob AS took responsibility as turnkey contractor and carried out the renovation with clear communication, weekly reports, and fixed milestones.
The Berg family in conversation with the project manager during the renovation

Close dialogue between family and project manager ensured good progress

"We felt in full control the entire way. The weekly reports and clear agreements allowed us to relax - even when we were living in the house during the work."
— Kari, Homeowner

! The Challenge

The detached house from the 80s had small rooms, little daylight, and was expensive to heat. The family wanted:

  • To open up the kitchen and living room into a more social common area
  • Better indoor climate and less drafts
  • A clear budget and one responsible party coordinating everything

In addition, much of the work had to be planned so the family could live in the house during parts of the period.

The Solution

Byggmester Bob AS delivered the project as a turnkey contract with a fixed price and a simple, predictable process:

1

Inspection and needs assessment

Review of current condition, desired floor plan, and priorities.

2

Engineering and planning

Technical clarification of load-bearing structures, ventilation, and energy measures. Progress plan with milestones.

3

Execution with weekly reports

Each week the client received status on: progress, deviations/choices, HSE, and next week's activities.

4

Quality control and handover

Final inspection with checklists, documentation, and review of operation/maintenance.

"The biggest challenge was opening up the floor plan without compromising load-bearing structures. With good engineering and close dialogue with the client, we solved it efficiently."
— Morten, Project Manager
